چکیده

Background: The methods of increasing the longevity dental burs by improving mechanical properties these surfaces, can increase their longevity. This study assessed effect diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating applied physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique on wear diamond and tungsten carbide (TC) burs. Methods: In this in vitro study, 30 TC were evaluated four groups, including without (control), with a 3.5-µm DLC PVD technique, technique. weighed digital scale, underwent pin-on-disc test, again. weight loss indicated degree each group. For qualitative assessments, surface was inspected under stereomicroscope at×4 and×10 magnifications before wear, halfway through after test. Finally, data analyzed two-way ANOVA (α=0.05). Results: significant (P=0.032), but type bur interaction not (P=0.151). A difference existed among groups (P < 0.001), coated significantly lower than that non-coated (P=0.012). Stereomicroscopic assessments revealed some residual particles, impression dislodged particles path burs, Conclusions: Overall, could resistance irrespective type.
